His main research focus is the automatic generation of explanations based on implicit knowledge through neural methods in a low-resource setting. He has previously worked on the automatic processing of idiomatic multiword expressions. He has published papers in several venues, such as ACL, TSLP, LREC, CLIC-it.

He graduated in Linguistics at the University of Bologna and later in Natural Language Processing at the University of Edinburgh. He is part of the European research project Antidote, focused on the development of argument-based explanations in artificial intelligence systems for the medical domain.

He combines research with teaching and publishing activities, particularly in the field of computational linguistics and lexicography. He contributes to the annual edition of the dictionary of the Italian language Zingarelli (Zanichelli), which he currently co-curates.
